about

Arnela Trimmel, a Berlin-based artist born in the late '80s in Southeast Europe, fled to Vienna, Austria, during the collapse of Yugoslavia. Since 2019, she has been engaged in drawing, oil, and acrylic painting, utilizing expressive and unconventional techniques. Her art aims to create autonomous works that stand on their own, with deeper meanings revealed through observation. Trimmel creates monumental compositions that explore internal struggles and emotional states.

Her work is driven by a deep passion for color and the dynamics of human interactions. She often tilts the canvas, allowing the paint to take on a life of its own—spreading, merging, separating, and eventually fading. For her, the process is everything, a dance of risks and discoveries. Colors in her work are not mere decoration; they are meant to evoke emotions. Her art is not a declaration or a bearer of symbols. It is, instead, an ensemble of forms where the final result has become secondary to the journey of creation.
